How to: Shuffle block

The Shuffle block displays its child blocks in a random order. This helps you compare different versions and eliminate any order bias effects.

What is the Shuffle block used for?

The Shuffle block is used to show blocks in a random sequence โ€” for example, to reduce bias and ensure that earlier questions donโ€™t influence how respondents perceive or answer later ones.

How does Shuffle work?

This block works a bit differently from other blocks in Wynde. The key difference is that you can place other blocks inside it. You can duplicate or delete these blocks, and you can apply logic to them (except logic that sends respondents to other blocks participating in the same randomization).

To create a study where question blocks are shuffled, simply create a test, add a Shuffle block, and then place the question blocks you want to randomize inside it.

Logic Rules Inside the Block

  • You can set up logic that sends a respondent from a question outside the Shuffle block into one of the blocks inside the Shuffle block.

  • After the Shuffle block, you can add logic that points to any individual block within it โ€” but not to the Shuffle block as a whole.

  • You cannot place another Shuffle block inside it, and you cannot add any logic inside it other than display logic.

What is in the report?

In the summary report, all content from the Shuffle block is grouped together as a single set.

In individual response reports, the order of blocks appears the same as in the test editor.
